honored as February Students of the Month Dan Davies and Kayla Gale were selected as the Vermillion High School Students of the Month for February. They will be awarded a $100 scholarship for their efforts by First Bank & Trust-Vermillion. Davies "exemplifies strong leadership both inside and outside the classroom" according to his faculty recommendation. "He shows a strong desire to learn, which is evident by his strong academic record." A few of his activities include Jazz Band, Community Choir, golf, basketball, drama and National Honor Society. He has been involved in various community events such as the Vermillion Food Pantry, the Welcome Table, and the Relay for Life. He plans to major in biology/pre-med in college. His parents are Tom and Karen Davies. Gale's involvement is in many areas as well. She was in volleyball, Show Choir, basketball, wrestling statistician, and the Homecoming Royalty. Additionally, she has been a State High School Rodeo qualifier and she performs the National Anthem at sporting events. "Kayla always has a smile on her face and is conscientious of the needs of her peers" as note by her recommendation. "She volunteers to tutor students who are struggling with their academics." Gale plans to attend Mt. Marty College. Her parents are Kelly Gale and Loretta Gale.
