Roadrunners top USD
Softball in series finale, 4-1 Cal State-Bakersfield built a 4-0 lead after three innings and went on to a record a 4-1 win over The University of South Dakota softball team in action Sunday in Bakersfield, CA. The Roadrunners (22-20) completed a three-game sweep of the Coyotes (20-13) with Sunday's win. Jaimey Kleinsmith was 2-for-3 for CSUB. USD was led by Alexa Rudeen (Fr., Sioux City, IA), who was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Tagney Jones (Sr., Lincoln, Neb.) was 1-for-3 with a run scored, while Callie Roan (Jr., Sioux City, IA) and Dani Bahlmann (Jr., Marshall, MN) also added hits. The Coyotes left four runners on base in the game and were outhit 9-4. Starter Brittany Donohue (Jr., St. Paul, MN) took the loss on the mound for USD. She went 2 1/3 innings for USD, striking out one and walking one. She allowed eight hits and four runs (three earned). Cortney Heim (Jr., Plattsmouth, NE) pitched 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to help USD stay within striking distance. The Coyotes resume action on Monday, April 6 against Cal State-Dominguez Hills. The doubleheader begins at 2 p.m.
