United Way reaches
fund-raising goal for 2009 The United Way of Vermillion has reached its fund-raising goal for 2009 of over $100,000 according to Deb Christensen, president of the local United Way Board of Directors. "We are very pleased to announce that the Vermillion community has made an incredible response to our fund drive," said Christensen from the Bank of the West. "Even during these tough economic times the people in and around Vermillion have once again demonstrated their unbelievable support of the 19 agencies and programs supported by United Way." The United Way of Vermillion provides support for the following non-profit agencies and programs: Senior Citizen Center, Sanford Visiting Nurses, Vermillion Public Transit, Beyond School Adventure, Big Friends/Little Friends, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Center for Children and Families, Imagination Library, Vucurevich Children's Center, American Red Cross, Park & Recreation Swimming Lessons, Welcome Table/Back To School, Safe Option Services, Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army, Vermillion Arts Council, Veterans Resource Center, and W.H.Over Museum. Vermillion United Way is currently taking applications for 2010 funds. The application deadline is April 30.
