USDâ�?�?s sprint medley relay teams finish in top 20 at the Drake Relays The University of South Dakota track and field teams competed at the prestigious Drake Relays recently in Des Moines, IA. The 100th running of the Drake Relays featured tough competition with 7,392 athletes competing from colleges and universities from all around the world. Haley Peterson (So., Norfolk, NE) competed in the pole vault competition while the other Coyote individual competing was Dylan Grau (Sr., Sioux City, IA) who placed 20th in the javelin throw with a mark of 168-08. In the women's 4×400 prelims, Allison Smith (Sr., Wahpeton), Natalie Newman (Fr., Overland Park, KS), Haley Juhnke (So., Vivian) and Kris Dubois (Fr., Dunkerton, IA) recorded a time of 4:04.29. The men's 4×400 team of Bill Lane (Fr., Sioux City, IA), Brian Skarda (Fr., Papillion, NE), Jared Cement (So., LeMars, IA) and Tyler Williamson (Jr., Estelline) finished with a time of 3:25.23 in prelims. The Coyotes men's and women's 4×100 prelims while the USD 4×200 women's team of Crystal Schiernbeck (So., Ida Grove, IA), Smith, Juhnke, and Dubois finished 14th (1:42.04) in the finals. On Saturday, the women's sprint medley relay team of Schiernbeck, Smith, Dubois and Newman earned a 17th place finish with a time of 4:07.27. The men's sprint medley relay team of Clement, Lane, Williamson and Kyle Poss (Fr., Sioux City, IA) placed 19th with a time of 3:31.74
