4-H Citizenship Washington
Focus Delegates Selected Pearl Gaidelis and Chad Peterson have been selected to participate in the 2009 Citizenship Washington Focus trip to Washington, DC June 21-27. The Clay County 4-H members are two of approximately 50 South Dakota 4-H members who will have the opportunity to visit the nation's Capitol and the National 4-H Center. All delegates will have the opportunity to debate national issues with other 4-H members and leaders from 12 other states. Participants will also be able to visit with South Dakota's senators and representative. County delegates were chosen based on their accumulative 4-H record and personal application. Pearl is the daughter of Mike and Sam Gaidelis, Wakonda. She is an seven-year member of the Young Producers 4-H Club. Pearl is active in the Dog, Sheep, Goat, Child Development, Horse, Home Environment, Rabbit, Public Speaking, Consumer Education, Computers & Technology, Electricity, Fitness & Sports, Food Preservation, Foods & Nutrition, Graphic Design, Hobbies & Collections, Oral History, Poultry, Safety, Robotics, Visual Arts, Wood Science, Health & First Aid, Clothing & Textiles and Community Service project areas. Chad, son of Chuck and Nadeen Peterson, Wakonda, is a seven-year member of the Young Producers 4-H Club. Chad is active in the Beef, Swine, Poultry, Wood Science, Home Environment, Visual Arts, Aerospace & Rocketry, Fishing & Wildlife, Bread, Foods & Nutrition, Food Preservation, Crops, Electricity, Horticulture, Rabbits, Photography, Special Foods and Public Speaking project areas. The Citizenship Washington Focus trip is co-sponsored by the Clay County 4-H Leaders Association, Clay County Youth Trust Fund and the South Dakota 4-H Foundation.
