Former Coyote signs with BC Lions of CFL Former University of South Dakota running back Amos Allen recently signed a contract with the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League. Allen, a 5-8, 185-pound back who is a native of Miami, FL, played for USD in 2007 and had an outstanding season. He rushed for 1,961 yards (a single-season record at USD) and 15 touchdowns during that season. Allen also holds the Coyote record for most 200 yard games in a season (four) and is tied with former Coyote great Stefan Logan for the most 100-yard rushing games in a single season (10). It is likely Allen could fill the void in the Lions' backfield left by the departure of Logan, who played for the BC Lions in 2008 and enjoyed a big season. Logan accounted for 1,366 yards from scrimmage (6th in the CFL) while finishing fourth in rushing (889 yards). This offseason, Logan signed a two-year contract with the Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers and will compete for a job as a running back or kick returner.
