Preservation workshops
set for May 30 On Saturday, May 30, the Clay County Historic Preservation Commission will present a preservation celebration at 7 Center Street, Vermillion, beginning at 9 a.m. The program will consist of hands on presentations on a variety of preservation related topics, a simple lunch with and a guest speaker and the debut of the Vermillion Walking Tour and brochure produced by Tom Thaden. There will be two workshop sessions presented in each time period at 7 Center Street. At 1 p.m. the program will relocate to the Austin Whittemore House at 15 Austin Street for a light lunch, and a guest speaker. At 2 p.m. Jim Wilson will lead the inaugural historic walking tour of downtown Vermillion. Everyone is invited to participate in the entire celebration or in any of the parts. There will be no fee for any portion of the program. Advance registration is appreciated although that is not necessary.
