Dan Moen is new USD Foundation major gifts officer Dan Moen began his role as a major gifts officer for The University of South Dakota School of Law and the Beacom School of Business on June 8. Moen, who resigned as chair of the USD Foundation in March to become a candidate for the major gifts position with the Foundation, is a graduate of USD. He graduated with a business administration degree in 1975 and a law degree and MBA from USD in 1978. Moen began his career as a private practice attorney in Aberdeen, before becoming associate general counsel for Super 8 Motels, Inc. He was then president of ACS, Inc., a subsidiary of Wells Fargo Financial Bank from 1994-2003 and then continued his career in business development. Transitioning from chair of the Foundation to a development officer is an opportunity that Moen is approaching with enthusiasm. "I gave retirement a try but found out I wasn't ready for it," said Moen. "It was important to me to find work I was passionate about and advancing my university is something I believe in. Having this opportunity to work with the Beacom School of Business and the School of Law to get the funding they need to be outstanding will be a challenge and I like challenges. I look forward to getting out and meeting and visiting with USD supporters all over the country." Moen and his wife, Ardis, grew up near Vermillion, in Irene, and recently moved to Vermillion from Arizona. They are the parents of three sons, Matthew, Brian and Robert.
