Herseth Sandlin seeks
fall intern applications The Office of United States Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (SD-AL) is currently accepting applications for fall internships in her Washington, DC, Aberdeen, Rapid City, and Sioux Falls offices. The deadline for fall term intern applicants is Friday, July 10. South Dakota natives who are current college students are strongly encouraged to apply. "An internship in one of my offices during the fall will allow interns the opportunity to see the government at work," Rep. Herseth Sandlin said. "An internship provides a chance for a valuable educational experience as well as an opportunity for personal development and professional growth. Because of the abundance of issues facing Congress, it is an excellent time to see the political process first hand." Interns in the Congressional office in Washington DC will get a close up view of the how a Congressional office functions on a day-to-day basis. They will be given the opportunity to attend House hearings and briefings, as well as conduct legislative research and work with constituents. Interns in the state offices work on conducting outreach to different parts of the state, assist South Dakotans with federal programs and work on specially assigned projects. All applications should be directed to Intern Coordinator Mike Traxinger via e-mail at Mike.Traxinger@mail.house.gov or by fax to (202) 225-5823. Applications are located at: http://hersethsandlin.house.gov/internships.htm.
