Chamber Chat Vermillion Area Chamber of Commerce & Development Company 906 E Cherry St., Vermillion, SD  57069 605-624-5571   This Weeks Happenings! • The Annual July 4 Celebration includes "Fun in the Sun" at the Vermillion Swimming Pool from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., "Eagles Club Annual Duck Regatta" down the Vermillion River starting at Dawson's Bridge at 10 a.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. at Barstow Park there will be inflatables for kids, various kids activities, food vendors, Hy-Vee's Hot Dog Eating Championship at 8 p.m., beer garden sponsored by the Eagles and live music followed by a fireworks display.  Everyone welcome! • Prints from the Frogman Press Summer Workshops featuring printmaking techniques by 18 various artists along with showings by Nancy Losacker featuring "Mosaic Mirrors" and Anthony Millette featuring "More Pots" are now on exhibit at The Coffee Shop Gallery and Shel's Lebanese Lunch through July.   Next Weeks Happenings! • Survive and Thrive "Marketing Matters," an audio/video series throughout the month of July. The first session will be "Roadmap to Marketing Success:  Steps to Writing a Successful Marketing Plan," July 9 at 10 a.m. at Three Rivers Business Resource Center at 116 Market St. These are no cost, one hour training sessions.  Everyone welcome.  No registration is required.  Hosted by the VCDC and Three Rivers Resource Center. • Annual Ice Cream & Pie Social is Thursday, July 9 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Vermillion Senior Center, 320 W. Main Street.  Come enjoy BBQ pork sandwich, chips, pies, cakes or other desserts with ice cream and beverages – all for $6.  Open to the public with plenty of tables and chairs in an air conditioned building.  Plenty of parking in the lot to the east of the building. • National Music Museum's brown bag lunch program will feature "An Eclectic Musical Journey" from 12:05 to 12:55 p.m. on Friday, July 10.  Free and open to the public. • "In Every Generation", an original musical in honor of the Sesquicentennial performed by the Vermillion Community Theatre is July 10,11 and 13 at 7:30 p.m. and July 12 at 2:30 p.m. at the Vermillion High School Theatre. The fair kicks off on Thursday, Aug. 13 at 4 p.m.  There is something for everyone including a Demolition Derby, ATV races, kids' crafts and games, water fights, car show, live entertainment and much more!  Check it out at • The 12th Annual Big Friend-Little Friend bike ride to raise funds for their Youth Mentoring Program is Saturday, Aug. 15 at the former National Guard Armory in Elk Point.  Registration is at 7:30 a.m. and the bike ride itself will take off at 9 a.m.  For more information please call John or Juli at 605-356-2571 or 605-421-5050. • Second Annual Hy-Vee Scramble for SESDAC is Aug. 17, noon registration with a 1 p.m. shot gun start.  Four person best shot at The Bluffs Golf Course.  Reserve your team early, this will sell out fast!  Payouts to three flights, tournament champion team wins $400.  Last year this event raised over $15,300 for the SESDAC Foundation.  Corporate sponsors are Hy-Vee, Budweiser, KVHT and The Broadcaster Press.
