Human Resource Conference Aug. 21 The Siouxland Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has scheduled its third Annual Human Resource Management Conference on Friday, Aug. 21 at the Marina Inn in South Sioux City, NE. Siouxland SHRM was founded in 1974 and has 150 local members in the Siouxland area. The conference will benefit business owners, office managers, and human resource professionals by offering employment workshops and a communications expert, Matt Booth, as the keynote speaker. The workshops will be presented by attorneys from the Jackson Lewis law firm (formerly Berens and Tate from Omaha, NE). Attendees can choose to attend several workshops, which include: Drafting an effective employee handbook (includes role playing of poorly drafted policies), drafting appropriate disciplinary documents, technology in the workplace (email, blogging, etc – workplace policies and employment litigation), HR Measures, Metrics and Audits, and Strategic Benefit Planning. An employment legislative update will also be presented. Up to 6 HRCI certification credits will be available for those holding PHR, SPHR or GPHR designations. There will be dozens of vendors available during the conference to review products and services for enhancing your business or HR services.
