USD teams up with cable provider to televise Coyote sporting events The University of South Dakota and Midcontinent Communications are teaming up once again to televise live Coyote sporting events in 2009-10. Four Coyote football home games, along with Coyote men's and women's basketball, will be broadcast live in the 2009-10 season. In addition, a Coyote home volleyball match will be televised live for the first time in program history. SD Director of Athletics Joel Nielsen announced the agreement with Midcontinent, which will broadcast the games on Midcontinent channel 23. Midcontinent's service area includes over 240 communities serving over 200,000 customers in South Dakota, North Dakota and Western Minnesota. "This is excellent news for fans of Coyote athletics," said Nielsen. "USD and Midcontinent Communications have enjoyed a great working relationship and we're excited to continue this partnership. Midcontinent's growing network will provide access to Coyote sporting events across the state of South Dakota and in the region. Also, I appreciate Midcontinent's willingness to produce additional programming (volleyball) which provides excellent exposure for USD." Midcontinent's football broadcasts include the Coyotes' game against Division I FCS foe Drake University on Sept. 19 (4:05 p.m. kickoff). The next live telecast will take place on Sept. 26 when the Coyotes play host to Division I FCS opponent Southeastern Louisiana University at 4:05 p.m. USD's Dakota Days game against UC Davis of the Great West Conference, set for Oct. 10 at 2 p.m., will also be broadcast live. The final football telecast of the year is set for Saturday, Nov. 7 when the Coyotes play host to Southern Utah University of the Great West Conference. In addition, Midcontinent Communications will broadcast several Coyote basketball games live this winter, with the dates yet to be finalized. For the first time ever, Midcontinent will also broadcast a Coyote volleyball match live on Sept. 25 when USD plays host to Seattle University for a 7 p.m. match.
