Heritage Bike Ride successful The Heritage Bike Ride in Elk Point on Saturday, Aug. 15, had 57 entrants, despite early morning rains and wind. The bike ride is a fundraiser for the Big Friend-Little Friend program in Clay and Union counties, and this was its13th year, featuring routes from 8 to 58 miles. Riders came from Minneapolis, MN, Ponca, NE, Cherokee, IA, and the tri-state area, as well as a large group of riders that came with Harlan's Bike Shop in Sioux Falls. John Gille is the program director, and reports that the riders all came in safely, and many have come every year. The group is already talking about next year's ride, and would like to thank its many sponsors and riders.
