Missouri River Water
Trail Kickoff Event Set On August 29, canoers and kayakers will kickoff the new Water Trail on the Missouri River. Several federal, state, and private organizations have established the trail, and Web site at www.mnrrwatertrail.org. Anyone who can bring their own equipment is welcome to join other paddlers on an 11-mile stretch of the new Water Trail. The South Dakota Canoe and Kayak Association is sponsoring this event, and participants will meet at the Mulberry Bend Boat Ramp near Vermillion at 8:30 a.m. Shuttle service from the takeout back to Mulberry Bend will be available until 2 p.m. for $5 per person, payable at the event. Bring your own water, snacks, and sunscreen. No guide service will be provided, so you must be able to navigate on your own.
