Seniors return
to match play On Aug. 4, the seniors formed into three-man teams and two-man teams to do match play. Winners of the competition, in no particular order, were Max Andersen, Milo Gilbertson and Jim Reed; Don Baer, Cleland Cook and Mo Marcotte; Shorty Hanson, Rex Huska and Guy Button. In the two-man games, winners were Al Clem and Louie Fostvedt, then Vern Holter and Joe Conroy. Bob Solomon, who was not on any winning team, had an unusual situation on hole #1. His ball was used for every shot in the scramble format and Solomon was the player who putted the 35-foot birdie shot into the hole. So basically he got the birdie from tee to hole all by himself. Atta boy, Bob.
