September is Library Card Sign-up Month, and the Vermillion Public Library wants to make sure that all children in Clay County have the smartest card of all — a library card.
Studies have shown that children who are read to in the home and who use the library perform better in school and are more likely to continue to use the library as a source of lifetime learning. Kids can come to the library to get homework help and check out books, but they can also play games, check out music, books, videos, and DVDs and use the Internet to help make their after-school life fun. The best part for both kids and parents is that it's all free with a library card.
Getting a library card is easy. Any resident of Clay County who is seven years or older can sign up for a library card. Children ages 7 to 14 will need a parent's signature to complete the form. For more information on how to sign up for a library card, visit the Vermillion Public Library at 18 Church Street, call 677-7060, or visit our website at firstname.lastname@example.org.
