Heartland Humane Society receives heartwarming donations

Heartland Humane Society received a heartwarming donation from the confirmation class at St. John's Lutheran Church in Yankton.  The girls worked hard to make warm fleece blankets and dipped doggie bones for the animals at the shelter.

Heartland Humane Society relies on donations from the community to care for the shelter animals.  Groups like the St John's Confirmation Class can help with great projects like this.  "The girls put in a lot of effort and were really creative with their donations," said Tasha Anderson, Executive Director at Heartland Humane Society.  "The blankets will personalize each kennel and keep the animals warm, and the dipped bones be great for fundraisers like our holiday photos and Tails & Trails events.  We are so happy to have their support!"

If your group is interested in doing a similar project for the shelter, contact Tasha Anderson at 605-664-4244 or email hhs@midconetwork.com.  You can also stop by the shelter at 601 ½ Burleigh Street in Yankton and visit some of the animals.

Heartland Humane Society serves Yankton and Clay Counties in South Dakota and Cedar County in Nebraska and surrounding communities, protecting and enhancing the lives of companion animals by promoting healthy relationships between pets and people.  Visit Heartland Humane Society online at www.heartlandhumanesociety.net.
