Heartland Humane Society's Wine & Whiskers event was a huge success, raising over $30,000 for the organization. Wine & Whiskers was held Oct. 3 at the Hillcrest Country Club in Yankton. It was the first event of its kind for the organization, and featured wine and beer tasting, hors d'oeuvres, live music, and a live and silent auction.
All of the funds raised go toward caring for the shelter animals, including veterinary expenses, spay and neuter expenses, food and shelter. Heartland Humane Society relies on donations from the community, and the fundraiser is the largest it has done to date.
"We just want to say thank you to everyone who made our event successful – the sponsors, auction donors, attendees and cash donors," said Tasha Anderson, executive director at Heartland Humane Society. "This event sets the standard for our fundraising efforts going forward. It was a lot of fun, too!"
