Debra Lynn Palmer, 56, of Vermillion, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at her residence.
Debra was born Oct. 26, 1953 in Colorado Springs, CO to Kenneth and Doris (Sanders) Palmer. Debra was raised and attended school in Sioux Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School and receiving her bachelors in teaching from Augustana College. She taught in Clear Lake and Winner, before working for Target Corporation for over 20 years.
Debra was a loving sister, aunt and dear friend to so many, she will be greatly missed.
Debra was an avid outdoors person, bird lover and traveler; she had published pictures and an article in the South Dakota Magazine, and was a member of the South Dakota Ornithologists Union. Deb worked for the past few years with the South Dakota Osprey Re-introduction at Yankton through the Corps of Engineers.
She is survived by her two sisters, Pam Palmer of Sioux Falls, and Dianne (Bob) Cooper of Huntington Beach, CA. She is also survived by a niece, Amanda Lebrecht of Tustin, CA; stepmother Judy Palmer of Hemet, CA; four uncles, Mutt, Bill, Bob and Greg; and three aunts, Elenor, Rita and Penny; and several cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
