GAYVILLE — Gayville Hall presents "A Celebration of the Beatles," starring Rapid City's Abbey Road Band, at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, in Gayville.
Abbey Road came about in 2001 when Monte Madison, the leader of band, had the idea of finding three other guys, as crazy about the Beatles as he was, who could get the harmonies just right and perform Beatles music as close to the original records as possible.
Band mates Fred Gondzar, Don Lerdal and Tony Johnson fit his bill. All had played Beatles music in rock bands back in the '60s in their own towns, loved the songs, and had the musical and vocal skills necessary to recreate the original sounds.
Eight years later, Abbey Road has opened shows for Asleep at the Wheel, The Guess Who, Tommy James and the Shondells, the Grassroots, nd other name groups, and has a drawer full of fabulous reviews, according to Gayville Hall proprietor Doug Sharples.
"We think that this will be one of our best shows ever," he said.
Gayville Hall is located at 502 Washington Street in Gayville. Tickets are $12.50 at the door or $15 for a reserved seat. Call (605)-267-2859.
