Walmart is helping 10 teachers at Vermillion Middle School purchase much-needed classroom supplies through its new Teachers Rewards program. Selected randomly, each teacher was presented with a $100 Teacher Reward Card at an award presentation at Vermillion Middle School.
Nationally, the Teachers Rewards program will enable Walmart and Sam's Club to provide more than $4 million to 40,000 deserving teachers across the United States.
"Walmart is committed to helping address unmet needs in the communities where we serve," said Keith Pearson, manager of the Vermillion store. "Our support for Vermillion Middle School underscores this commitment, and we are hopeful that through the Teacher Rewards program, these educators will be able to purchase the materials needed for the school year."
The new Teachers Rewards program is an extension of the retailer's ongoing support of education and local community involvement. In 2008, Walmart, Sam's Club and the Walmart Foundation gave more than $66 million to fund educational programs and scholarships in communities across the country.
