Carol G. Macy, 73, died Dec. 6, 2009, at South Central Kansas Medical Center, Arkansas City, KS. She was born Dec. 5, 1936, in Clay County, to Harvey and Emma Smith Lofgren. She was a former Vermillion resident, and lived in Sterling, KS, since 1970.
She was the former co-owner of the Sterling Bowling Alley. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Paddy's Bridge Club, both of Sterling, KS, and the Juno Chapter of Eastern Star, Vermillion.
On Dec. 27, 1955, she married Delmar Wayne Macy. He died Oct. 8, 2001. Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Scoles; a brother, Larry Lofgren; and four step-grandchildren, Alyssa Scoles, Rebekah Scoles and Emilie and Edie Gill. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Carol Macy.
Carol's funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling with the Rev. Bob Bethell officiating.
There will be a service Saturday, Dec. 12, at Hansen Funeral Home, Vermillion. Burial will be in BluffView Cemetery, Vermillion.
Memorials may be sent to the Linda Macy Scholarship Fund, Sterling Presbyterian Manor, or the donor's choice, all in care of the funeral home.
