 WHEREAS, the American Legion Auxiliary is a non-profit organization committed to advancing the mission of serving veterans, their families and their communities; and

 WHEREAS, the members of the American Legion Auxiliary have dedicated millions of volunteer hours to serving American veterans, educating children and working in their community, all the while working to uphold the ideals of freedom and democracy; and

WHEREAS, beginning November 10, 2009, the American Legion Auxiliary celebrates its 90th year of Service Not Self, for Veterans, God and Country; and

WHEREAS, the observance of American Legion Auxiliary Day provides an opportunity to recognize Auxiliary members in our community for their many contributions to our city;

NOW, THEREFORE I, Daniel D. Christopherson, Mayor of the City of Vermillion, do hereby proclaim November 10 as AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY DAY.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this tenth day of November in the year of our Lord two thousand nine.
