National Park Service recreation areas closed

Missouri National Recreational River will be closing the Mulberry Bend Overlook to vehicle traffic immediately for the remainder of the winter season. The Missouri National Recreational River currently does not have a winter maintenance program and is unable to remove snow and ice from the roads and sidewalks to provide for safe visitor access. There is also no winter road maintenance at the Bow Creek Recreation Area so access to this area will become increasingly difficult as winter conditions worsen and is, therefore, not advised.

The National Park Service will be conducting maintenance burns of cedar tree piles at Mulberry Bend Overlook and Bow Creek Recreation Area this winter as a part of an ongoing vegetation restoration project.

All National Park Service activities are conducted with visitor safety as a primary concern.
