Tammie Lee (Burcham) Rasmussen, 52, of Vermillion left this life to join her Lord and Savior on Dec. 1, 2009 at her residence.
Funeral services were held at Faith Lutheran Church in Maskell, NE, on Friday, December 4 at 10:30 a.m. with Bishop David deFreese officiating. Burial was in Maskell Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Maskell with family present at 6 p.m. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. with PMA Chad Beckius presiding. Wintz Funeral Home of Hartington is in charge of arrangements. Tammie adamantly requested in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to Faith Lutheran Mission Center or a mission of the donor's choice.
Pallbearers were Jacob Giess, Stacey Gonzalaz, Scott Bennett, Michael Burcham, Shannon Nelson, and Chuck Stockwell. Honorary pallbearers were Tammie's nieces and nephews.
Tammie was born Sept. 9, 1957 to Robert and Ivadell (Nelson) Burcham. She grew up in the Obert /Maskell area and graduated high school in 1975 from Newcastle Public Schools. Tammie earned a degree in business management from Wayne State College, graduating in 1980. Tammie was united in marriage to Randall Lee Rasmussen on Dec. 28, 1985 at Maskell, NE. They were blessed with four children, Torrie Lee, Amanda Joi, Dylan Randall, and Breanna Joy.
Tammie had a huge heart for children and was dedicated to religious education. She began teaching Sunday School at the age of 13 and taught Sunday School and Bible School every year since. Her many hobbies and interests included, but were not limited to, sewing, quilting, stamping, crocheting, and home decorating. Her life's passion was mission work. She saw her dream of Faith Lutheran's Mission Center become a reality.
Survivors include her husband, Reverend Randy Rasmussen; their children, Torrie, Dylan, and Breanna of Vermillion; her parents, Robert and Ivadell Burcham of Obert, NE; her sisters and brother and their spouses, Shelly (Bruce) Sorensen of Lawton, IA, Cindy (Ron) Geis, David (Linda) Burcham of Maskell, NE, Lisa (Chad) Beckius of Newcastle, NE; nephews and nieces, Robert and Katie Sorensen, Jacob, Anna, Joseph and Leah Geis, Heather, Austin and Zachery Burcham, Andrew and Caleb Beckius, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Tammie was preceded in death by her daughter, Amanda Joi Rasmussen, her grandparents, Donald and Sylvia (Gregg) Nelson and Elmer and Mildred (Olander) Burcham.
