The Vermillion Fire Department was called to the western outskirts of Vermillion Monday afternoon when fire broke out in a recently harvested field of corn near Timber Road. The large plume of smoke caused by the fire was clearly visible from the city, and a light wind pushed the smoke over Highway 19. But no property was damaged by the fire which was quickly brought under control by firefighters. (Photo by David Lias)
