Walter Mockler, 75, of Burbank, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009.
Wally was born March 23, 1934 in Burbank to Albert and Margaret (Muhlenkort) Mockler, he attended Bruyer Country School, and married Norma Jean Sorensen on May 27, 1961 in Vermillion. He farmed in the area all his life. His wife died in 2006.
Wally was a member of the Eagles, and a past member of the Brule Township Board.
He is survived by his sons, Karl (Katie) Mockler of Vermillion, Ross (Marissa) Mockler of Burbank; and two daughters, Kay (Richard) Rasmussen of Vermillion, and Ann (Jim) Welle of Pierz, MN. He is also survived by a brother, Arnold (Virginia) Mockler of Vermillion; seven grandchildren, Kara, Erin and Jason Rasmussen, Tyler and Trisha Welle and Alexa and Brandon Mockler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma Jean; three brothers, Eugene, Charles and Richard; and a sister, Mary Geffre Johnson.
Funeral Mass was 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Vermillion with burial in the Calvary Cemetery in Vermillion. Visitation was Sunday, Dec. 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. all at the church.
