Eugene Goldrich Hult, 96, of Vermillion, passed away on Dec. 24, 2009, at Covington Heights Nursing Home in Sioux Falls.
Eugene was born on Sept. 13, 1913 in Clay County, South Dakota to Richard and Goldie (Vennard) Hult.
Eugene married Evelyn Louise Brinkman on Dec. 16, 1935 in Canton, SD. They had a farm in Carthage, SD. They had two children, Edwin Eugene and Leona Evelyn. In their later years they had a home in Sioux City, IA and enjoyed going to the Sioux Center Senior Center. They loved camping and always had a camper that they took out to Yankton most summers. Eugene enjoyed farming and later, gardening. Their backyard in Sioux City was almost entirely fruits and vegetables. Eugene was an excellent musician and played the accordion at the jam sessions at the Sioux City Senior Center. He also played the organ. He loved music, especially country music.
He is survived by his son, Edwin Hult of Vermillion; grandchildren, David Hult of Sioux Falls, Catherine Hult of Bettendorf, IA, Michael, James and Donald McVay, and many great-grandchildren.
Preceding Eugene in death were his wife, Evelyn, and daughter, Leona Evelyn Hult McVay.
Funeral Services were held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010 at Iverson-Siecke-Kober Funeral Home, Vermillion with Rev. Sandy Aakre officiating. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at BluffView Cemetery in Vermillion.
