Wayne E. Heckenlively passed away on Jan. 2, 2010 in Meza, AZ. Wayne was born in rural Burbank on Aug. 25, 1918 to Lottie and Grant Heckenlively.
After graduating from Vermillion High School he was a truck gardener for several years and won several awards for hand corn picking. He married Marjorie Purcell on Aug. 19, 1941 in the home of her parents in Dalesburg. They made their home in the Burbank area and he continued his career as a crop and dairy farmer until his retirement in 1996.
After his retirement, he and his wife Marjorie spent winters in Arizona where they enjoyed going to dances, golfing and spending time with their many old friends and neighbors from South Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie in 1996.
He is survived by his two daughters, Jane (Tom) Langworthy of Sioux Falls and Susan (Bill) Richey of Portland, CT; four grandsons and six great grandchildren.
