Verdell Baxter Larson, 78, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010 at his home in Palmdale, CA.
Verdell was born on Feb. 19, 1932 in Beresford to Aldric and Alma Larson.
He was married to Carol Elizabeth Ellison on Feb. 9, 1953. Verdell and Carol moved themselves and their family to California in 1965, where they still lived. Verdell was a meat cutter until 1992. After retirement Verdell and Carol decided to become full time travelers. The two of them traveled from coast to coast together for the next five years. After traveling, Verdell and Carol settled down in Palmdale, CA. Verdell loved waking the neighborhood with his dog, Dakota. Verdell and Carol loved to play cards with the family. They also enjoyed gardening and working around the house. Verdell was a lifetime member of the VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Larson of Palmdale, CA; his sons, Lonny of Paradise, CA, Wayne of Auburn, CA, and John of Huntington Beach, CA; his daughters, Susan Craddock of Acton, CA and Sandra Smith of Palmdale, CA; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Alton and Delsmore Larson, both of Vermillion.
Visitation was held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9 at Iverson-Siecke-Kober Funeral Home in Vermillion. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. following visitation on Tuesday, March 9 at Iverson-Siecke-Kober Funeral Home. Burial immediately followed the service in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, rural Vermillion, with military graveside service conducted by V.F. W. Vermillion Clay Co. Post #3061.
