Kenneth Charles "Chris" Christopherson died April 1, 2010. Kenneth was born in Vermillion to Fred Lars Christopherson and Clara Martha Millage June 20, 1931. Ken joined the National Guard in 1950 and was stationed in Alaska until May 1954. He married Donna Jean Girard from Elk Point on Dec. 31, 1954.
He joined the Army in June 1955 and served tours in Germany, Okinawa, Hawaii, Turkey and three tours in Vietnam returning to Fort Lewis, WA after each tour. He retired in August 1974 as a CWO4. He worked for a private contractor in Saudi Arabia for several years training the Saudi National Guard. Donna still worked for the Civil Service. They transferred to Pennsylvania in 1989.
After Donna retired, they moved back to Vermillion in 1991 and stayed until 2001, when they moved back to Port Orchard, WA.
Ken "Chris" passed away at the age of 78 surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife, Donna, of 55 years; children, Melinda (Randy) Kelly of Puyallup, WA, Melissa (Les) Sawdye of Port Orchard, WA, Stephen (Ann Marie) Christopherson of Alexandria, VA; grandchildren, Scott and Troy Kelly, and Alexander and Nicolas Christopherson. He is also survived by two of his 10 siblings, Darrell Christopherson of Vermillion, and Marietta Muckey of Desert Hot Springs, CA.
