Tanager tennis falls to tough opponents

Yankton swept Vermillion 9-0 in a high school boys tennis dual at the USD courts Tuesday afternoon.

On Monday the Tanagers' scheduled home dual with Sioux City North was rained out and will hopefully be rescheduled.

Vermillion is set to be home again on the university courts at 4 p.m. Friday against Sioux Falls Roosevelt.

Earlier last week the Tanagers lost a 9-0 dual at Sioux Falls Washington where the tough Warriors showed they will be a force with whom to reckon at tournament time.  The VHS players were able to score two points against their Washington opponents in only one of the nine matches and one point in three of them.

Vermillion came up with a pair of singles victories in Tuesday's junior varsity action against Yankton.  Will Card won his match by a 6-2 count, and Kevin Helenurm scored an 8-4 win over his Bucks opponent.
