Weather dampens VHS track schedule

It was too good to last.

The beautiful spring weather that had allowed Vermillion's and other schools' track and field athletes to compete in all of their scheduled meets up to that point came to an end Friday when rain and the forecast of more of it caused cancellation of the Lennox Booster Club qualifier meet which the Tanagers were supposed to attend.

That left Coach Lenni Billberg's athletes with more than a full week minus actual competition.

That will hopefully be rectified this weekend when some of the VHS athletes will compete at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays in Sioux Falls on Friday and Saturday.  Another meet is being held at O'Gorman High School Friday which will attract other Tanagers and other schools' athletes because of the limitation on the number of entries a school can make at the Howard Wood meet.

The schedule is winding down for the Tanager thinclads.  Next on the schedule will be the Yankton Quarterback Club's meet at 4 p.m. next Thursday.
