Business After Hours hosted by USD at the Muenster University Center Tuesday, May 18 from 5 to 7 p.m.  This event will give the community an opportunity to sample food from Aramark, view available meeting rooms and event rental space, and tour the new building.

Candidate Forum for all those running for city council/mayor will be held on Tuesday, May 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Neuharth Center on USD's campus.

Annual Fourth of July Celebration – Are you interested in participating in the Annual Fourth of July Celebration?  We are currently seeking food vendors and children's activities for the event! If interested, please contact Carly at

Announcement:  In May, help Domestic Violence Safe Options Services (DV SOS) by dining at Raziel's as they are donating 5 percent of the sale of every meal to the organization.  People's patronage will help DV SOS continue to provide confidential, life saving services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Vermillion Senior Citizen Rummage Sale, Auction & Bake Sale Friday, May 14 1 to 6 p.m. and Saturday, May 15, 9 to 1 p.m. Donations of clean and good condition items accepted for rummage sale – clothing and shoes must be new or hardly used. Call 624-8072 by Wednesday, May 12 if you need help transporting items.

Heartland Humane Society Annual Animal Fair – Annual fundraiser Saturday, May 15 at Riverside Park in Yankton.  Event includes activities for the family – even four-legged ones. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and dog walk starts at 10 a.m.  Event includes pet contests; i.e., most unusual pet, best-dressed pet, best pet trick; demonstrations by local K-9 police unit; basic obedience overview, etc. Raffle tickets now available by contacting Tasha Anderson at 605-664-4244 or e-mail  Seven raffle packages available to view on website: Drawing Saturday, May 15.

Seventh/Eighth Grade Spring Concert scheduled for May 13 has been moved to Thursday May, 20 at  7 p.m. at Vermillion High School Auditorium.

Third Annual Preservation Celebration Saturday, May 22 at the Austin Whittemore House, 15 Austin St.  Clay Co. Historic Preservation Commission will celebrate Historic Preservation & Archeology Month with three workshops followed by a box lunch with a keynote speaker and choice of two guided walking tours.  Workshops:  8:30  a.m. – Moisture in Historic Buildings with Jim Wilson; 9:40 a.m. – Wood Windows: Repair & Rehabilitation with Shane Fry; 10:50  a.m. – Historic Masonry:  Repair Demonstration with Doug Griffin.  Noon – talk by Jay D. Vogt:  SD State Historic Preservation Officer. Walking tour of downtown Vermillion or USD Campus at 1:30 p.m.  Free and open to the public. Pre-registration appreciated – call 624-4579.
