Evalin C. Moore, 87, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2010 in Rapid City.
Evalin is survived by her brother, John Coon of Alabama; five children, son, Jim Moore of Vermillion, daughter, Ann Mulally (husband Jim) of Santa Monica, CA, son, Dan Moore (wife Rosita) of Fontana, CA, daughter, Cynthia Berg (husband Tom) of Richland, MI, and daughter, Julie Moore (husband Doug Meiron) of Rapid City. Evalin has four grandchildren, Amanda Berg, Lindsay Berg, Patrick Mulally, and Brendan Mulally.
Evalin is preceded in death by her mother, Martha S. Coon; father, Julius M. Coon; and her brother, Robert Coon.
Evalin was born and raised in Sioux Falls. She graduated from USD, Vermillion in 1945. She and her husband, Dr. Edwin J. Moore raised their five children in Vermillion. Evalin was a fun loving mother who loved waterskiing and snow skiing. While on a family vacation in Minnesota she pulled her five young children waterskiing behind their boat all at the same time. This was quite an accomplishment as the boat had a 50 horsepower Evinrude motor. Thereafter, Evalin was nicknamed "Evinrude Evie" by her children and their friends.
The family spent many years with friends on the Missouri River fishing, boating and waterskiing at what is now known as Myron's Landing. Evalin was still waterskiing at age 65.
Evalin loved the Black Hills and especially Sylvan Lake. As a young girl she went with her aunt and uncle to their cabin in the Black Hills. The cabin was located where Pactola Lake now stands and she would always mention this every time we drove by the lake.
She will be truly missed by her loving family and friends. A private family service will be held at a later date.
