The Vermillion Area Farmers Market announces its 2010 market season with more vendors, more dates, and more locations. The farmers market will be held every Thursday afternoon from 3-7 p.m. starting May 13 until Oct. 28 at the Clay County Fairgrounds on the corner of High and Cherry streets. They are also planning a Saturday morning market in downtown Vermillion at the plaza on the corner of Main and Market streets. The Saturday market will run from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. June 5 through Sept. 25.
The Vermillion Area Farmers Market (VAFM) features fresh, local produce, meats, baked goods, crafts and other locally-grown, raised or produced items. The 2009 season saw more than twice as many vendors than in years past and they expect even more in 2010. The VAFM is currently the only farmers market in North and South Dakota that accepts EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer). They also accept cash and debit cards.
