Make a splash at the Vermillion Public Library

The Vermillion Public Library is preparing for a fun-filled Summer Reading Program.  The theme for beginning and intermediate readers is "Make a Splash – READ!"  Their program will kick off on Thursday, June 3 with an open house between 1:30 and 4 p.m.  Preschoolers through elementary students are invited to register, enjoy treats, make a booklet and a fish, tour the water treatment plant, and pick up a program bag.  There are many activities, movies, performers and reading clubs planned for June and July.  Our young readers can earn tickets that can be redeemed in our Tide Pool Treasures incentive store.  They can also earn tickets to several reward parties throughout the summer.  All details and calendars will be in the program bags. Information is also available on the library's website at http://vpl.sdln.net or by calling the library at 605-677-7060.

The advanced readers' theme is "Make Waves at Your Library" and the kickoff party for students in grades 6-12 will be at 5:30 p.m. on June 3.  Join us for pop and pizza, get registered, get a program bag, and enter the Sea-Creature-Create-A-Thon.  Special activities are being planned for young adults and they may earn prizes and reward parties too.  Calendars and details will be in the program bags and on the library website.

The summer session of story time will begin Monday, June 7.  Preschool story times for children ages 3-5 are held Monday evenings, Wednesday mornings and Thursday mornings.  Toddler story times are offered for 1-3 year olds on Tuesdays at four different times.  Registration is necessary for story time and may be done by stopping in the library at 18 Church Street or by calling 677-7060.
