SIOUX FALLS — The Vermillion track and field team scored four top-12 finishes in relay events at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays, held this past Friday and Saturday at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls.
The top finish on the girls' side came in the medley relay with a clocking of 4:32.08 to finish seventh. The Vermillion girls also finished ninth in the 1600-meter relay (4:14.55), 13th in the 800 relay (1:52.91), 20th in the 400 relay (54.73) and 20th in the 3200 relay (10:36.96).
The Vermillion boys ran two relays, placing seventh in the 1600 relay (3:35.46) and 11th in the 3200 relay (8:51.14). The Tanagers won their heat in the 3200 relay.
Also for the Vermillion boys, Ryan Kost ran a 17.56 in the prelims of the 110-meter high hurdles, Tanner Anderson clocked a 5:00.70 in the 1600 and Alex Card clocked an 11:09.28 in the 3200.
On the girls' side, Blair Gilkyson clocked a 5:43.62 and Ashley Brunick finished in 5:55.68 in the 1600-meter run, Carlee Sorensen clocked a 52.78 in the 300-meter hurdles and Morgan Howar clocked a 13:09.00 in the 3200.
