VHS tennis experiences first dual victory

The Tanager boys tennis team has taken its lumps at times this season, but their patience and drive to keep trying paid off last Friday.

Vermillion defeated Sioux City East, 5-4, for the team's first dual victory of the season.

Dylan Scheidel at No. 3, Ethan Druin at No. 4 and David Day at No. 6 won their singles matches while the Scheidel/Druin team and the duo of Day and Camden Raizola won their doubles matches to clinch the team's triumph.

In another dual last week the Tanagers lost to Yankton, 6-0.  That one was called off because of rain before the doubles matches occurred.

Coach Dan Hanson's VHS tennis team will finish the season at the state tournament in Sioux Falls next Thursday and Friday after playing duals in Madison Saturday morning.
