Carol L. Clodfelter, 91, of Sioux City, IA, formerly of Vermillion, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010 in Sioux City.
Carol Grangaard was born Feb. 5, 1919 in Wakonda, to Oswald and Emma (Johnson) Grangaard. She graduated from the Vermillion High School, and attended the University of South Dakota graduating with her BA degree in elementary education.
Carol married Dwane "Cloddy" Clodfelter on Nov. 15, 1940 in Tekama, NE. She taught for over 30 years in South Dakota, which included one room country schools, and third and fourth grades in Alcester, Elk Point and McCook. She enjoyed all outdoor activities, especially golf. She also enjoyed gardening and cooking.
She is survived by her sons, Dwane and wife Patricia of Pierre, Kim and wife Renee of Madison, WI; and daughters, Claudia and husband Sam Killinger of Sioux City, IA, and Linda and husband Bob Noyes of Parker, CO. Also surviving her is a brother, Orin and wife Mary Grangaard of Roseville, CA; and a sister, Cozette Graham and husband Jerry Kral of Sacramento, CA; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Family requests memorials to be directed to the South Dakota Braille and Talking Book Library or the Hospice of Siouxland.
