Mary Jorgensen, 80, of rural Elk Point, passed away Monday, June 14, 2010 at her residence.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, June 19 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, rural Elk Point. A private family burial will take place in the Jorgensen Family Cemetery, rural Elk Point at a later date.
Mary was born June 12, 1930 in Tyndall, to John and Ruth (Stanley) Hammond. She grew up in the Elk Point area and graduated from Elk Point High School in 1948. She received her Teachers Certificate from Springfield College. She taught in rural schools for a short time and married Warren Jorgensen on July 6, 1952 in Elk Point.
Survivors include her husband, Warren of Elk Point; two sons, Dickson Jorgensen of Arlington, and Dexter (Noreen) Jorgensen of Burbank; two daughters, Sandra Jorgensen (George Spiehs) of Pierre, and Jeanette (Loren) Johnson of Burbank; also three grandchildren, Janet (Jamie) Erickson, Kelley Jorgensen, Kerrey Jorgensen; four step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Annabelle Spurling of Tyndall.
