Thomas G. Kolbeck, 62, of Vermillion, died Sunday, May 30, 2010 at the Ponca State Park in Ponca, NE of an apparent heart attack.
Tom was born Sept. 4, 1947 in Sioux Falls, to Peter and Loretta (Reedy) Kolbeck. He graduated from Salem St. Mary's Catholic High School in Salem in 1965, and went on to graduate from the University of South Dakota in 1969 with a degree in recreation. He worked his way through college working at the IBP plant in Dakota City, NE.
On Dec. 13, 1975, he married Shari Herring in Vermillion; he was retired from his middle management position at IPB where he worked for 35 years, and was currently working with Experience Works through the state of South Dakota as an employment and training assistant.
He is survived by his wife Shari of Vermillion; two sons, Thomas of Lawrence, KS, and Michael of Vermillion; a daughter, Theresa Kolbeck of Overland Park, KS; and two brothers, Terry (Jane) Kolbeck of Omaha, NE, and Peter Kolbeck of San Francisco, CA.
Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 4, at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Vermillion, with burial to follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Yankton. Visitation was 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 3 at the church. Online condolences and obituary: hansenfuneralhome.com.
