SESDAC, Inc. honored Lloyd Hawes, assistant professor of social work at USD, on April 28 for his 11 years of service on the organization's Human Rights Committee. As chair of this important committee, Lloyd advocated for people with developmental disabilities, making sure that people supported by SESDAC were never denied appropriate rights.
Under his guidance, staff at SESDAC were able to develop a thorough understanding of the nature of rights and their protection. He was instrumental in helping SESDAC receive a commendation regarding its Human Rights Committee from the State Division of Developmental Disabilities in its most recent review.
Lloyd retired from USD this May and decided to step down from his position with the committee at SESDAC to pursue other interests.
