Once again the Vermillion Police Department will host "National Night Out" on Tuesday, Aug. 3, at Prentis Park from 5 to 8 p.m. This is the 27th year for the National Event. It is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch.
If you have attended one of these events in the past, you know it is a night of fun for the whole family.
This is a time for strengthening of police-community partnerships, of neighborhood spirit. It heightens crime and drug-prevention awareness. This night is also the night to turn on your porch light, leave it on through the evening to "take back the night."
If your neighborhood or block has an idea or would like to participate by having a "block party," cook-out, exhibit, etc. on this evening, be sure to contact the Vermillion Police Department, we will schedule a visit with your group.
We will all band together to send a message to criminals, letting them know that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
As always, there will be plenty of food, fun and games.
Everyone is encouraged to get involved for a night of support, participation, learning and working together.
