Teachers – Missouri National Recreational River and the National Park Service wants and needs your input! Park staff and teacher-ranger-teachers will be conducting a teacher workshop from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 2, starting at the Yankton Public Library. Come join us for an exciting day that will include presentations of the draft education plan and K-12 curriculum conceptual framework that's been developed based on information provided by teachers and education partners during the park's first workshop on June 15. We will also pilot test some of the initial lesson plans and take a field trip to Niobrara State Park which will include an optional hike down to the confluence of the Missouri and Niobrara National Wild and Scenic Rivers.
Pre-registration is required. We need a minimum of 10 teachers registered. Free professional development hours and documentation will be provided for all participating teachers. Approval of a credit option is pending; if approved, there will be a fee for the one credit option. There are no additional costs for the workshop and teachers will also receive copies of the draft lessons plans and planning documents.
To register or for more information, please email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or call Anne Doherty-Stephan, Chief of Interpretation and Education for Missouri National Recreational River at (605) 665-0209 x29.
