Thomas Vincent Sullivan

Thomas Vincent "Buzz" Sullivan, 72, of Burbank, died unexpectedly July 13, 2010 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.

 He was born Oct. 25, 1937 in Garryowen, to Thomas and Lorraine (Vincent) Sullivan.  He attended rural school and graduated from Vermillion High School in 1955. He attended SDSU and USD.  He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1964.

Buzz married Judith Ann Mount on Feb. 8, 1964 in Vermillion. They were happily married for 46 years.

He worked at Electro-Magic in Vermillion and continued with the family farm prior to his marriage to Judy and continued farming for about 50 years.

Buzz was an Eagles member, COOP board member, member of the Coyote Snowmobile Club, CB Club and Missouri River Rodeo Club for several years. He was also a member of Spink Wrangler Saddle Club, Saint Agnes Catholic Church and recent member of Clay County Historical Society.  He also enjoyed reading, hunting and collecting antiques.   

Buzz loved spending time with family and friends. He grew up around horses and spent many years enjoying riding. In later years, he had a team of horses that he used to pull his stagecoach and wagon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lorraine Sullivan; sister, Mary Kuester; father-in-law, Roy Mount; and brothers-in-law, Duane and Roger Mount.

Survivors include his wife, Judith Ann of Burbank; son, Thomas "T.R." (Patsy) Sullivan of Burbank; daughters, Kelly (Dennis) McKelvey of Beresford, and Tara Sullivan and special friend Kyle Johnson of Hinton, IA; grandchildren, Lacy, Carson, Baily, Jake Sullivan and Kyle and Hannah McKelvey; also special niece and nephew, Wade Mount and Beth Bottolfson.

Buzz was much loved and touched the lives of all he met and will truly be missed by all.

Funeral Mass was 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 17, 2010 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Vermillion, Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, Garryowen.

Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, July 16 with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. at the church.
