University of South Dakota women's soccer coach Mandy Green has announced the signing of four student-athletes for the 2010 season. Joining the Coyotes this fall will be Laura Ekeren of Yankton; Billie Enderby of Rapid City; Tayler Giannini of St. Charles, IL; and Brittany Henderson of Keller, TX.
"We're pleased to add these four individuals for the 2010 season," Green said. "We're excited about their potential impact on our program."
Ekeren is a 5-foot-7 forward/midfielder from Yankton, where she was a three-year letterwinner at Yankton High School. Ekeren was first-team all-state in 2009 and all-state honorable mention in 2008. She scored 17 goals in the 2009 high school season. She also was a standout in basketball, being named all-conference and to the South Dakota North vs. South All-Star game. Ekeren was also academic all-state in 2009-10.
Enderby is a 5-foot-3 midfielder from Rapid City, where she was a three-year letterwinner at Central High School. She was a starter as a senior in 2009 and also played club soccer for the Rushmore Soccer Club.
Giannini is a 5-foot-7 defender from St. Charles, IL, where she was part of the St. Charles North team that placed third in the state. She helped the team earn wins in the regional, section and supersectional championship games. St. Charles North broke a high school record with a 23-2-1 mark in 2010. Giannini also competed on the U17 Boys Fox Valley Club team and also was an Elite Captain on the Fox Valley Strikers U17 team.
Henderson is a 5-foot-6 defender from Keller, TX, where she competed for Central High School. Henderson was first team all-district in 2009-10 and was second-team all-district in 2008-09. She was the MVP of the team's defense for two straight years. She was a three-year starter at Central.
The four join Kerry Grogan of Sioux Falls, Afton Keiser of Sioux Falls, Ali Romano of Galesburg, IL, and Jennifer Teslow of Sioux Falls as USD recruits for 2010.
