Volin man dies of injuries from Monday crash

A Volin man died Tuesday as a result of a two-vehicle crash north and east of Yankton that occurred Monday, July 26.

Phillip Lawrence Larson, 65, was the driver of a 1999 Chevrolet K1500 pickup. The crash occurred when a 1999 Ford Contour driven by Brenna Rae Sibson, 18, of Vermillion, failed to stop at the intersection of 303rd Street and 446th Avenue north and east of Yankton. The crash caused Larson's vehicle to roll several times into a field at the southeast corner of the intersection. Larson was transported to a Sioux City, Iowa, hospital, where he died.

Sibson's vehicle ended up in the southeast ditch. She and her 17-month-old daughter suffered minor injuries. Occupants were using seatbelts.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. Yankton County Sheriff, Yankton County Emergency Medical Service and Volin Fire Department assisted.
