Harold B. Westin

Harold B. Westin, 59, of Elk Point, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City, IA.

Memorial service were held on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at United Parish in Elk Point with Rev. Jeff Adel officiating.

Harold was born on Aug. 22, 1950 to Bertil and Mary (Moulzalf) Westin. The family moved to Elk Point in 1963 from Sioux City.  Harold was raised in a Catholic family, and graduated from Elk Point High School in 1968.  He married Jeanne McDonald on Aug. 2, 1969.

Harold worked as a machinist at Prince Manufacturing Co. in Sioux City for 35 1/2 years – from 1970-2006.  When not working, he loved to fish, mess with cars, and buy-sell things.  He was often called a "Wheeler and Dealer."  Harold was a lifelong Nebraska Cornhusker fan, and also earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne of Elk Point; his daughters, Melaine Westin of Vermillion, and Jennifer (Shannon) Bauge of Sioux City; his sons, Keith Westin in Kuwait and Bertil (special friend Leaha) Westin of Jefferson; his grandchildren, Connor Owings, Lexi Owings, Ryne Behrens, Julian Westin, Mya Westin, and Mardaya Westin; his sisters, Karen (George) Snyder of Largo, FL, Mary (Ron) Grandi of Tabor, and Lauri (Jeff) Schleusener of Rapid City; and his brothers, Steven Westin of NH, Craig Westin of Elk Point, Scott (Julie) Westin of Mustag, OK, and Todd (Cindy) Westin of Kountze, TX;  and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by parents, Bertil and Mary (Moulzalf) Westin; brothers, Bernie  and Richard Westin; sister, Paula Westin; niece, Nellie Scott Grandi; and by his best-friend /dog, Brutus Westin.
