The Tanager soccer teams will be the next among the Vermillion High School fall sports teams to open their home seasons.
The VHS girls host Huron at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cotton Park, followed by the boys game against the Tigers at 1 p.m.
The boys golf team, which had three days of competition already earlier this week, is off until next Thursday when they play a dual at Sioux Falls Christian. The girls tennis players open their campaign at the Yankton quadrangular Saturday and go to a Mitchell triangular next Tuesday.
The cross country teams open next Friday at the Beresford Invitational, and that night the football Tanagers open the 2010 season at Lennox. The volleyball team opens on Aug. 31 in a home triangular against Todd County and Lennox.
Local fans can get a taste of all of those sports tonight (Friday) at the Tanager Booster Bash at the VHS football field. Various teams will have scrimmages at 4:30, p.m., and supper will be served starting at 5 p.m. The football team will have a 6 p.m. scrimmage with the dance team performing at halftime of that event.
